Infrascripti eo fidedigne inaudito, quod Amplissimus Magistratus erga insinuationem I. Comitatus huiusce Bacsinesis Diplomaticum chirurgum Isaacum Kretzmer, ob querimoniam quandam contra eundem infundate positam, et quin idem desuper suo modo exauditus fuisset, ab ulteriori praxeos chirurgica = medica exercitis simpliciter suspendi decreverit, ad eundem Amplissimum Magistratum velut competantem ac immediatam Jurisdictionem nostram hisce humillime recurrere sustinemus, demisse supplicantes, quatenus necessitatibus nostris exigentiaque boni communis in gratiosam reflectionem assumptis, memoratum Israelitam Isaacum Kretzmer penes ulteriorem praxeos sua chirurgico = medica continuationem vel ex eo gratiose relinquere dignaretur, quod nos fide ac dexteritate eius in morbis curandis probe perspecta, omnem confidentiam nostram in eo collocaverimus, quam is confidentiam perita artis sua applicatione, singulari in succurrendo promptitudine et agilitate, pro ut etiam celeri penes exiguas expensas in periculis opitulatione, in tantis iam tamque diversis cuiusvis generis ……… ac patientium casibus plenarie comprobaverat. Quo circa Amplissimum Magistratum iterato humillime exoraresustinemus, quatenus demissis hisce precibus nostris pro jure et iustitia gratiose deferre, aut vero si id oblatam iam eatenus I. Esteemed etc.,

Due to the complaints presented here, the city captaincy informed us that during the previous year, the city surgeon Isaac Kretzmer, a Jew by nationality, who was licensed to practice surgery in this city, was under investigation for charging excessive amounts of pharmaceutical fees. In this way, he carried out machinations for personal gain, and that the whole case is known to the General Assembly of Bačka County, so it also ordered an investigation, as we did, especially since the city pharmacist Aleksandar Pejak requested such an investigation in a mixed process. What the decisions from this case are, is clearly indicated here, but so that it does not turn out that we do not take into account the public opinion enough and since this whole case also concerns the surrounding places that fall under the jurisdiction of the General Assembly of Bačka County, we enclose some more documents that will further shed light on the whole case, and we have presented, on the basis of the generous decision of Your Excellency and the discussion of the Royal Council, the request of a large number of citizens submitted in favor of the Kretzmer in question. In addition, we imposed a ban on the surgeon in question to continue practicing medicine, according to the County's decision. Dedicated in fidelity and service and their obligations. Issued after the session of the Magistrate on March 7, 1825, in Sombor.

Odani i vreni građani.

Exalted Magistrate!

We, the undersigned, have heard the credible news that the supreme Magistrate, on the basis of a decision at the level of the entire Bačka County, simply decided to prohibit graduate surgeon Isaac Kretzmer from further practising medicine on the basis of a lawsuit filed against him without any grounds, while he was also heard in the case against him. For our part, we humbly ask the supreme Magistrate to take into account this request of ours, taking into account our needs, our poverty and general well-being, and allow the mentioned Jew to continue to engage in surgical or medical practice or to voluntarily withdraw, since we can fully credibly testify to his skill in treating the disease because we have fully gained trust in him, thanks to his exceptional skill, speed and agility in providing help, and the very low prices he charged to people, depending on the material status of the patient. We received the news that he was forbidden to continue treatment and practice medicine with sadness, not only because of him, but also because of us, because, knowing him, based on that decision, we completely lose faith in medicine, and above all doctors, pharmacists, surgeons are in danger of being perceived by their patients as enemies and persecutors even in the most dangerous situations. Thus, we completely lose faith in medicine and are exposed to the danger of premature death. Therefore, we ask the esteemed Magistrate to reconsider its decision on the basis of our requests in accordance with the law and justice, or, if it has no authority to decide otherwise on his own, to at least forward our request to the exalted Council of Lieutenancy of the Kingdom of Hungary in order to reexamine the case and provide different decision. Loyal and diligent citizens.
