Infrascriptus Amplissimo Magistratui humillime supplico; quatenus me ex Bohemie loco Licskov oriundum artis liberalis pictoria ea cum exactitudine quarum, ut communam hominum – quibus artis mea labores tam hic in gremio – quam alibi locorum perfeceram – laudeat consecutus sim – ad gremium recipere dignaretur tum ideo; qiod mores illibatos ubique locorum – quo me pervenire contigerat, premetulerim, cum ex propterea: quod spectata commoditata gremialis publici pictor suam artem perfecte intelligens isthic in gremio admodum necessarius sit. Hoc omnia dum me originalibus documentatis quorum molem isthic producere ......... esse censeo probaturum offerem ac me artis hujus liberalis cultorem quamvis Mosaica Religioni addictum iterum iterumque a rem gratiis enixe devotum omni cum venerationis cultu perenno. I, the undersigned, humbly ask the exalted Magistrate for the following: since I come from Bohemia, from a place called Licskov (Ličkov), and since I have mastered the art of painting with such skill that the whole community in this city - as I have been elsewhere - can be from please, therefore, the exalted Magistrate, taking into account that as well as that I have shown honorable behavior in all places where I have lived, and the benefit that a painter skilled in his craft can bring to the city community, please allow me to become part of this urban community. I can document everything I talk about, as well as my painting skills, and although I am of the faith of Moses, I ask that my request be granted. With due respect and service, in Sombor on April 13, 1825.
