Exalted Magistrate! There is no doubt that the exalted Magistrate is aware that last year, when the moment came in October to change the regulations concerning civil duties but also the requirements, that I and other merchants appeared at the prescribed auction, and that on that occasion I offered the lowest acceptable price according to the rules, so in that way I made a public agreement with the city and that I publicly signed it with all the necessary decrees and members together with the senator and captain Simon Demetrović (Simon Demetrovics). After concluding the contract, as it is known to the exalted Magistrateand all public officials and most of the citizens of this place, the goods were transported to the city Curia by agreement, where they were left to stay for the next month. On this occasion, I kindly ask that you generously issue me a confirmation of that fact, which is more than known to the public, in the form of a written testimony. Humble servant Of the exalted Magistrate Lazar Stein (Lazarus Stein) Member of the Jewish community and merchant To the exalted Magistrate of the Free Royal City of Sombor, esteemed gentlemen Humble request of Lazar Stein, a Jew and a city merchant, to be generously issued a written testimony of what is set forth in the document |
